How we approach accessible design on zsm.digital and in the websites we build for clients.
ZSM Digital is committed to making our website and the digital products we deliver usable by as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies or have disabilities.
We aim to follow recognised accessibility standards and to improve over time. Accessibility is part of how we design and build — not an afterthought added at the end of a project.
For zsm.digital and for client websites unless otherwise agreed in writing, we aim to conform with WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), published by the W3C.
Where relevant to public-sector or procurement requirements, we can also align work with EN 301 549 (the European accessibility standard for ICT products and services). Specific conformance targets for your project will be confirmed in your proposal or contract.
We work to make zsm.digital accessible by applying practices such as:
We review our own site periodically and fix issues we identify. Full WCAG conformance testing by a third party can be arranged on request.
When we design and build websites or web applications for clients, we typically include accessibility considerations such as:
Higher or formal compliance requirements (e.g. full WCAG audit, VPAT, public-sector accessibility statement for your organisation) can be scoped and quoted as part of your project.
Some areas may not yet meet our target standard, or may depend on third parties:
We are happy to discuss practical improvements and prioritise fixes that have the greatest impact for your users.
If you have difficulty using any part of zsm.digital, or if you are a client and need accessibility support on a site we built, please tell us:
Please describe the page or feature, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you use if relevant. We aim to respond within 5 business days and will work with you to provide the information in an accessible format where possible.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) for advice on discrimination under the Equality Act 2010.
For websites of public-sector bodies, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) enforces accessibility regulations in England, Scotland, and Wales. That may not apply to ZSM Digital directly, but may be relevant to your organisation if you are a public-sector client.
